Project
A landing page design for Nocturne, a niche perfume brand. The first screen is the bottle on a dark branch in front of the moon.
Task
A scent cannot travel through a screen. Perfume pages usually show a bottle on a white background, and the buyer compares price.
The page had to show what the scent is, in an image and in words, without a sample.
Solution
The first screen is the bottle in a night scene under a large italic headline, with one button to choose a fragrance. The brand name sits on the bottle, so the image carries the identity.
The next block explains the scent: top notes, heart notes and base notes in three circles around a composition of flowers, citrus and wood.
What was hard
A dark, rich picture can bury the type and the notes.
Three groups of notes can read as a list instead of a scent that changes over time.
How we solved it
White serif type on the deep blue keeps the text clear, and the circles give each group of notes its own quiet space.
The circles follow the order the scent is smelled, from the top note to the base, so the block reads as a story.
